Tour Time

In Program Announcements on May 28, 2012 at 9:06 am

Everything is blooming and we are ready for our annual Garden Club Day Trip!  This year on our June 9th trip will be visiting Peaceful Acres Lavender Farm.  Peaceful Acres is located in Martinsville Ohio in Clinton County.   We will be car pooling from the Meijer parking lot in Clayton.  Be sure to be there by 9:00 – our tour starts at 10 at the farm.  Remember – lavender likes sun – bring a big hat!!!  More information about the farm can be found at www.peacefulacreslavenderfarm.com

After our tour, we will be having lunch at Lucy and Ethel’s Tea Room.  Lucy and Ethel’s is a small tea room in a private  home in Wilmington Ohio.  It is  located in a beautiful country setting.  You can “Google” them and see more information.

See you June 9th!

May – A Digital Lesson

In Member news, Plant Sale, Program Announcements on April 14, 2012 at 9:13 am

Disregard your program book this month.  We are going to have a change of programs for the May meeting.  We will not be able to tour Judy Wagner’s garden – she has another commitment that week.  If you have ever tried to schedule something a year ahead of the actual event, you will understand that it does happen.   The good news is….Judy has invited our members to come see her garden at another time.  We toured her garden years ago and I can only imagine that it is as beautiful (if not more) now.  If you are interested in seeing her garden, contact Jenny for more information.

Our May meeting will be about Pressed Flowers and Digital Art.  If you are reading this post, I am guessing that you will find it interesting.  I know that I will.  We will be meeting at Linda’s home at 6:30 on May 3.   Our meeting will be held at Lin Sell’s home in Tipp City.  You should have received an e-mail with her address.  Lin has also invited us to tour her garden that night.  I can’t wait!

May 17, 18 and 19 are the dates for our Perennial Sale.  Yep!  It’s perennial – it comes up every year!   You may drop off your plants at any time Wednesday.  Remember – plants should all be labeled with the name of the plant, sun requirements and color.  You may pick up flower pots from Vicki if you need them.

Please contact Vicki with the times you want to work at the sale – better hurry if you work and need a Saturday time.  We are asking that all members participate in this sale since it is our major fundraiser of the year.  All members benefit from our profits when the club provides meeting materials, tour entry fees, speaker fees, give-aways and the Christmas dinner.  If you cannot work at the sale and cannot donate any plants, we are asking that you donate $20.00.

Vicki has prepared a flyer advertising the plant sale.  You should have received a digital copy in your e-mail.  Please print the flyer and distribute it where you can.  If you are not able to print the flyer, contact Vicki and she will get you some copies.

If you have been in the club for the last 10 years, you will know that the weather could be beautiful or miserable on the day of the sale.  We will assign specific duties at the next meeting to make sure we have all the supplies we will need that day.

April Showers Bring……

In Program Announcements on March 5, 2012 at 1:27 am

April showers will, no doubt bring bogs and woodland gardens full of flowers.  So, we should be very interested in our guest speaker at the April meeting.  Mr Glotzhober from the Ohio Historical Society will be speaking on bog and woodland gardens when we meet on Thursday, April 5 at 6:30 pm at Carrie’s home.  Barb and Ruth will be co-hostesses.  We will start the conversation about our annual plant sale then so that we will be ready in May – if you have any ideas on how we can improve the sale, make sure you bring them to the meeting.

Have you seen our group on Facebook?  Amy has started a special group for our club if you would like to join.  Just search for College Hill Garden Club and you will find it.  Feel free to share pictures of the terrarium or dish garden you created at our March meeting.  You can put them on the Neighborhood blog or on the new facebook group.
